Ripping Out the Seams Thesis Essay
Ripping Out the Seams: Picking Apart the Political Economy of Garment Making to Draft Patterns for Change.
This was my thesis essay for my undergraduate degree from Goddard College. I'm offering it for free, with the caveat that it doesn't go far enough into race, gender, and global inequality. There is a lot to unpack when it comes to the garment industry, and my way of going about addressing it was to look at it from a systems perspective. How has the capitalist system created the state of fast fashion consumption, and what does it do to meaningful work and life making? I am open to feedback and critique and further explorations.
